Our HOA Board is Too Small
By: Jeremy Mulvihill on April 24, 2025
The Motif HOA Board has faced ongoing challenges in maintaining the minimum number of members required to meet quorum and function effectively. While we currently have a full board of three, long-term sustainability — and meaningful progress — requires broader participation. There are a few reasons for the ongoing difficulties: Many residents lead busy lives, balancing careers and families, which makes volunteering feel out of reach. A high number of rental properties can limit long-term involvement and investment in community leadership. Often, board positions are filled by those with availability rather than by those best suited to lead — leaving gaps in experience, perspective, or temperament. This is where you come in. We need thoughtful, capable, community-minded residents to step forward and help shape the neighborhood we all share. Serving on the board isn’t a heavy lift — the minimum commitment is simply attending board meetings via Zoom and casting your vote. That’s it. But your presence and voice can make a real impact on decisions that affect everything from property values to safety, beautification, and how we build a better future together. Whether you have prior experience or not, if you care about where you live, you’re qualified to contribute. We’ll support you every step of the way. Elections are coming up soon. If you’ve ever thought, “Things could be better”, now’s the time to step up and make that difference. Interested in running or just want to learn more?
